Vision and Values
Our Vision
At Hope Baptist Church, our vision is simple:
To be a church passionate about growing in faith and sharing Jesus with Peverell, Plymouth, and beyond.

God has shaped us to be a community with a strong heartbeat for youth and children, families, and practical social action. These ministries define who we are and how we faithfully serve the place God has planted us. We dream of a future where Hope continues to grow deeper in discipleship, more confident in mission, and increasingly present across our city. In the coming years we aim to develop new expressions of church, strengthen our local presence, and boldly pursue all God has for His kingdom.
Our Values
At Hope Baptist Church, our heart is simple: that everyone can find a place where they truly belong, grow in their faith, and step confidently into the life God has called them to live. We believe the local church is God’s idea—a community where every person is known, loved, discipled, equipped, and sent.
Our values are shaped by the early church in Acts 2:42–47, where believers devoted themselves to teaching, fellowship, worship, generosity, mission, and multiplication. From this biblical foundation flow five core values that shape who we are becoming.
BELONGING
We believe the church should feel like home. Hope is a place where everyone—regardless of age, background, or story—can find community and experience the welcome of Christ.
We aim to create a warm, genuine first impression; help people move from attending to belonging; strengthen our life groups; communicate clearly; and continually encourage our church family to invite others to “come and see.”
BELIEVING
We are committed to helping people move from simply hearing the gospel to living as deeply rooted disciples of Jesus. We want to cultivate a resilient, well-formed faith that shapes everyday life.
This means investing in meaningful partnership, developing new pathways for spiritual growth, strengthening our prayer life, training current and future leaders, reviewing our leadership structures, and regularly hosting Alpha, Explorer, and baptism courses.
SERVING
We believe every follower of Jesus has God-given gifts to offer. Hope is a place where people can discover, develop, and use their gifts for the good of the church and the mission of God.
We regularly review our ministries, care for and support our volunteers, highlight opportunities to serve, and look for ways to nurture and release people into their gifting.
IMPACTING
We are called not just to gather but to go. As a church, we long to make a meaningful impact in Peverell, Plymouth, and beyond through the life-changing message of Jesus.
We do this by creating regular opportunities to introduce our community to Jesus, reviewing and investing in social action, praying for mission, partnering with organisations like Compassion and BMS, and sending people into God’s wider mission story.
MULTIPLYING
We believe growth is a sign of life. We desire to see people come to faith regularly, outgrow our building, and plant new missional expressions of church across the city.
This means actively praying about our next steps, exploring the development of missional communities, and seeking God’s guidance as we expand and multiply.
These values guide everything we do as we follow Jesus together.
